Margaret Rosenzweig

University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing
Pittsburgh, PA
Margaret Rosenzweig is a PhD nursing professor and oncology nurse and nurse practitioner  for the past three decades. She recognized the enormous contribution and potential of the oncology nurse practitioner (ONP) yet detected unmet educational needs of NPs entering cancer care without specialized knowledge. She documented these learning needs, assumed a national leadership role for ONPs and developed and implemented locally, regionally and now nationally an interactive electronic curriculum that teaches practice and communication skills to ONPs new to oncology, funded through the National Cancer Institute. She has published 12 manuscripts, 3 abstracts and 5 book chapters specifically pertaining to the ONP. These papers are used as national templates for needs assessment and curricular guides for the ONP role. Her mentoring and teaching experience in cancer care is extensive and includes work with nurse practitioners, physician assistants and doctoral and postdoctoral students.
